    LEE HANSON Owner & Inventor

    After graduating with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, Lee went on to work in Corporate Sales for Unocal, Rogers Corporation, and then Ciba-Geigy Corporation for 13 years. Nineteen years ago, Lee decided to start his own material science company called The Hanson Group, LLC. Hanson synthesizes and sources raw materials, develops finished systems and products, and solves problems for some of the largest corporations in America. Outside of work, Lee enjoys playing tennis and golf, movie nights, and spending time with his family.

  • ERIN HANSON Owner & CEO

    Erin graduated with a BS in Education and Mathematics from Georgia State University. After teaching for a year, Erin and Lee decided to start their family, and Erin became a stay at home mother to 5 children. She spent the next 24 years heavily involved in the school system, church and community as well as The Hanson Group. With a calling to make a difference in the lives of youth, Erin and Lee worked together to develop the Guardian Cap. Erin now works daily to pursue the mission of helping players through equipment innovation. In her free time, Erin enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

    CAITLIN HANSON GOUWS Business Development & Marketing

    Upon graduation from Georgia Tech with a BS in Business. Caitlin went to work with SPANX by Sara Blakely as an International Marketing Specialist. She then spent 2 years working with Turner Broadcasting as a Sponsorship Solutions Coordinator for TNT and TBS. In 2012 Caitlin decided to utilize her experience in marketing and advertising, and joined the Guardian Innovations team.  Outside of the office, Caitlin enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, working out and hanging with her family.

    Matt is a Georgia Tech graduate with a BS in Business and former collegiate athlete.  He handles the day-to-day operation of the business, oversees all sales activity, and pursues pathways to develop additional revenue streams for the company. He has personally suffered sports injuries as well as seen the increase in these injuries while working with high school athletes. Matt is passionate about people, sports, and service; he loves the way his job brings those things together. He is an avid football fan and spends his free time watching games, working out, golfing, and cooking

    ALEXANDRA HANSON GARNER Accounting

    Alex graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in Accounting. She worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ select intern program and received an offer to join the Audit team at PwC. After a surprising diagnosis of brain cancer early in 2012, Alex decided to join the family business while she underwent radiation and chemotherapy. Alex is now blessedly cancer free and has decided to stay on as accountant for The Hanson Group and Guardian Innovations.  In her free time, Alex enjoys taking long walks and watching the latest Netflix documentaries.

    EXPERIENCE

    Chuck is a Polymer Scientist and Physicist. Over the last 44 years, Chuck has held positions of director, president, founder, vice president of research and development, treasurer, investor, and advisor to manufacturing companies, technology businesses, nonprofit and trade associations, and the U.S. government. In 40+ years of work with polyurethane foams and elastomers, Mr. Demarest has created over 2,000 polyurethane formulations for purposes as varied as artificial hands for amputees, skateboard wheels, shock absorbers for bicycle forks, and ski boots.

  • DR. DAVID VANSICKLE
    DR. DAVID VANSICKLE MD Neurosurgery, PhD Biomechanical Engineer

    EXPERIENCE

    After earning a masters and doctorate in bioengineering, Dr. Vansickle went on to pursue a career in neurosurgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a six year neurosurgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. While there, he was named Surgical Intern of the Year and later the Neurosurgery Resident of the Year. He also patented a new device to help facilitate epilepsy surgery. Dr. VanSickle has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has given multiple presentations. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the American Medical Association (AMA). Co-owner of MindGenesis: Neuro imaging clinic for early detection of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

  • MARK KELSO
    MARK KELSO Player Safety Advocate & Former NFL Player

    EXPERIENCE

    Former NFL Player that wore the ProCap in the NFL from 1989-1993. Mark played at the College of William & Mary and 8 NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 1986-1993. Kelso appeared in four consecutive Super Bowls with the Bills from 1990-1993. Starting with the 2006 NFL season, Kelso has served as the color commentator for Buffalo Bills radio broadcasts on WGRF 96.9 FM and currently WGR 550. He was the Development Director at Saint Mary’s High School in Lancaster, New York, as well as its varsity football defensive coordinator from the 2003-2010 seasons. Mark continues to be invited to sit on panels, speaking engagements, and safety related board meetings. Mark Kelso is a player safety advocate and supporter of soft-shell technology. Mark advises the Guardian team.
